Current work in progress is modeling a subject if a classic painting. The aim of this study is to create the horse pictured in the Whistlejacket, the famous painting by George Stubbs. Biggest challenge is the extremely expressive head and placement of the neck. The horse was been taken apart again after the version pictured below. It is now largely reassembled with newly designed and milled parts for more stability. The leather pictured here has also all been re-shaped. With these horses, sculpting often involves manipulating thin surfaces and it is not easy to add or subtract curvature or overall size. In addition, the movement that the leather needs to allow has to remain natural as it takes on another position.
